As we prepare our hearts for this service, we invite you to participate in a collective fast, choosing to forgo one meal a day from May 12th to May 18th. This shared sacrifice is a way for us to seek God’s guidance, draw closer in unity, and make room for spiritual renewal ahead of this special gathering.

Rev. Dr. Alice V. Thompson is the Spiritual Care Coordinator at CalvertHealth Medical Center located in Southern Maryland. She grew up in rural Westmoreland County, a small community, nestled along the Potomac River in the Northern Neck of Virginia. God blessed her to be one of eighteen children, precious sisters, and brothers. Her parents and grandparents taught her at an early age to look to the Lord, respect God’s creation, be a blessing to God and others, and to honor her heritage.

Her academic journey includes a Doctorate Degree in Ministry from Howard University and post graduate studies from other institutions.  God and life prepared her for the joy in serving others. She is a certified biblio/poetry facilitator, scholar in senior care, instructor in end of life/ bereavement services and is trained in trauma- informed spiritual care.  

She is the former pastor of Covenant Christian Church in Washington, DC.  Presently, Dr. Thompson is a friend to New Hope Baptist Church in Fort Washington, Maryland. The blessing of chaplaincy in caring for God’s people has led her beside the still waters, the shadow of death and being followed by goodness and mercy all the days of her life. She is blessed to be the mother of two sons, Emery and Nathaniel and doubly honored to be a grandmother and great grandmother.  

Rev. Alice (Mama Alice) is a woman who loves the Lord and celebrates this love in her trust in God and care for others.
